What kind of product is ABBYY FineReader PDF?
It is a document productivity application covering both PDF and OCR needs, for individual use, small and medium businesses, and large organisations.
What does it compete with?
The main alternatives are Kofax Power PDF, IRIS ReadIris, Adobe Acrobat, Nitro Pro, Foxit PhantomPDF, Soda PDF and Wondershare PDFelement.
Compared with Adobe AcrobatWhy choose it?
It is one solution for the whole PDF workflow: digitize, retrieve, edit, protect and share.
It is strong on scanned PDFs thanks to ABBYY’s integrated OCR: you can edit them, run a full-text search, and convert them into genuinely editable Word or Excel files even when the original scan is poor.

Is there a Mac version?
Yes. It has the same OCR capabilities but a narrower PDF feature set. See the comparison above for the exact differences.

For a single user there is the Standalone licence: one licence, one machine. That is the form of the four SKUs we stock.
For organisations there are the volume types Per Seat, Remote User and Concurrent, with a five-licence minimum. For Mac, only Per Seat is available.
